Luther and his orthodox successors have been noted, two persistent facts remain. First, we find that the orthodox teachers possess a religious and cultural make-up and temperament similar to Luther’s. Second, we find that these theologians very consciously tried to emulate the theology and spirit of Luther. As we shall see, there is every reason to believe that they succeeded.
